This week at Hope 01/18/2022

Happy Tuesday to you in this second week after the Epiphany of our Lord!

The ladies of LWML are gathering this evening at 5:30 to share in God’s mission and encourage a strong witness to the saving grace of Jesus. You are invited to join them in the Parish Hall.

Hope Men’s Group is convening today at Tres Amigos for a festive dinner and zesty conversation. We start arriving at 5:00 pm and usually wrap up around 6:30. Swing that way later, invite a friend to come along, and be emboldened by manly fellowship.

Wednesday BUMP is undertaking a new topic this week, a video series—“Christianity: the First Three Centuries”. Presented by Dr. Paul Maier, this recounting of life in the early Christian church should provide direction and wisdom to us in these similarly challenging times. We get started in Hope Harbor with a meal together at 6:00 pm, then discussion and prayer until 7:30.

Interested in a field trip with fellow Hope tourists? This trip is for Active Seniors (of any age) who are ready to hop on the bus! Deaconess Sharon and Suzanne Mueller are planning an outing on Friday, February 4, to the Bob Bullock Texas State Museum. We will meet at church at 9:15 and depart at 9:30. Then we will enjoy the museum from 10:00 to 12:30. After that, it’s lunch at a nearby restaurant and back to Hope at 2:30 pm. See Suzanne about tickets. $16 for museum and theater; lunch on your own. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center.

The Lord has supplied each of us generously with daily provision. I encourage you to make regular and faithful Offerings at Hope in faith and gratitude for God’s loving care. Here are three ways to do that:

•          In-person at the offering plate;

•          On the church website by the Give with Us button;

•          Through the Vanco mobile app GivePlus.

Scripture readings for next Sunday—Nehemiah 8:1-3, 5-6, 8-10; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31a; Luke 4:16-30.

Birthdays—1/18 Ginger Bayer, Sharon Teague; 1/20 Phyllis Bahr

Anniversaries—

“He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.” John 2
