This week at Hope 08/29/2022

Yesterday in worship we observed the Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost and gained powerful motivation for life with Jesus. Building on the foundation of God’s freely-given mercy and forgiveness in Christ, our attention and focus are on “the city that is still to come.” In the meantime, in our daily lives, we are spurred on by this simple truth, “Do good and share what you have because God is pleased with these kinds of sacrifices.” There is our call to put faith into action! There is our blessed occupation as we await the eternal fulfillment of God’s plan and purpose.

Sunday adult Discipleship yesterday had a rousing conclusion to our study of 2 Corinthians. This coming Sunday we will enjoy a special one-topic discussion. Then on September 11 we will begin a new study of 1 Thessalonians. September is a great time for everyone to commit to regular Sunday Bible study.

In Health news, a number of people around the church have tested positive for a coronavirus, primarily among those who were with the DayTrippers last week. In consideration of others, that has led Amy Swanks to cancel Mother’s Day Out this week, and Deaconess Sharon to call off SAIL on Thursday. We pray full and speedy recovery for all who might be afflicted.

In Generosity news, we have completed our year-long commitment in Sunday School offerings for the school mission of Jeremy and Meghan Barker in Nicaragua. Over $6000 was contributed!!! Also, there has been a great response to the appeal for assistance with Matt and Elena’s transportation needs. Thanks to several donations, they will be well-supplied for insurance, gas, maintenance, etc., in their new vehicle.

Congratulations and God’s blessing to Sanaz and Navid as they are united in Christ in the covenant of marriage this Saturday!
