18 Oct This week at Hope 10/18/2021
Yesterday in worship we observed the Twenty-first Sunday after Pentecost and heard Jesus’ challenging teaching on the kingdom of God, or God’s reign. This is how I described it: “God’s kingdom is where Jesus, by virtue of His self-giving sacrifice, reigns in loving kindness and helpful discipline.” As you can see, for a Christian this is great news because it means that Jesus is present everywhere for us. There is no where and no time in our lives where we have to be separated from Him. Both in God’s gracious work to save us and in our determined faithfulness to serve Him, we are alive in the blessed realm of our Savior and Lord.
Reports are in that generous benefactors have exceeded the $2800 goal for orphanage repairs in Congo. Thanks to all who contributed!
Hope Men’s Group convenes this Tuesday at Tres Amigos. Come anytime between 5:00 and 6:30 pm and enjoy the company of your fellow Christian soldiers along with tasty vittles and stimulating discussion.
The ladies of Hope will gather for the LWML meeting this Tuesday at 5:30 pm. This is a great occasion to get hands-on with mission work as they will be assembling relief kits for Austin Disaster Relief Network. Talk to Betsy Martino to find out how you can help.
We will have a grosse zeit this Friday at Hope’s annual Oktoberfest! The festivities begin at 6:00 pm in Friendship Hall. Food, drink, and fun are all included for $10 per person. Contact Jo Palmer right away to reserve your seat at the table.
Outreach effort with Tacos and Prayers is this Saturday. We will meet up at church from 9 to 10 am for taco prep, then head down the road to MBC auto to meet our neighbors and show and share the love of Jesus.
The Lord has supplied each of us generously with daily provision. I encourage you to make regular and faithful Offerings at Hope in faith and gratitude for God’s loving care. Here are three ways to do that:
• In-person at the offering plate;
• On the church website by the Give with Us button;
• Through the Vanco mobile app GivePlus.
