16 Nov This week at Hope 11/15/2021
Yesterday in worship we observed the Twenty-fifth Sunday after Pentecost and turned our attention to the End Times. In Mark 13 Jesus spoke directly about how earthly events will come to a conclusion before His return. Based on that, the writer to the Hebrews provides exhortation to us for how Christians stay occupied in the meantime. We eat our ‘lettuce’—Let us draw near with a genuine heart with the certainty that our faith gives us; Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering; Let us spark love and good deeds; Let us not stop meeting together. The Day is surely drawing near, and the need is greater than ever for the Church to join hands in devotion to Christ and encouragement of one another to seize the day and redeem the time!
Next Sunday brings the Church Year to a close with Christ the King Sunday. We will also celebrate the baptism of Sanaz Fathi. Not only that, the LWML will have their annual Holiday Sweet Bread sale in support of Missions.
Orders are now being taken for Christmas flowers in the church. Poinsettias are $10 each; white roses are $3.50 per stem. You can fill out the form at the church.
Men of Hope are gathering at Tres Amigos this Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Come around and enjoy the conviviality and be strengthened by brothers in the Lord.
Women of Hope are gathering in the Parish Hall this Tuesday at 5:30 pm. Be part of the sisterhood and discover how God is at work locally and globally through Lutheran Women in Mission.
The whole church is invited to the SAIL Thanksgiving Dinner this Thursday. Bring a dish to share. The festivities commence at 9:30 am and conclude with the meal by Noon. This will be a great occasion to praise the Lord in the company of good folk.
Neighborhood Outreach with Tacos and Prayers is planned for this Saturday. Come to church at 9 am to help with food prep. Show up at MBC Auto at 10 am to help with distribution. This Gospel effort truly impacts people’s lives!
Hope will have Thanksgiving Eve services next week Wednesday, November 24, at 11:30 am and 6:30 pm. Let local sage Willie Nelson inspire you: “When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around.”
