23 Aug This week at Hope 8/23/2021
Yesterday in worship we observed the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost and looked at the familiar but often misunderstood passage on marriage in Ephesians 5. The best approach is helped by realizing that St. Paul is writing foremost about Christ and His bride, the Church. And it is Jesus’ sacrificial love that informs the primary role the husband is called to fill. As the husband provides for, supports, and defends his wife, she is receptive to these gifts and can gladly respect and honor her lifemate. Then we experience true union with Christ, the inseparable union that His body of believers has with Him for eternity.
Our Sunday Adult Discipleship gets better and better with the study of the Epistle of James. It is practical, real-life help that we all need and can put to use!
