This week at Hope 11/30/2020

Yesterday in worship we wished each other a Happy New Year as the church year began again with the First Sunday in Advent. The season of Advent (“coming”) reminds us of Jesus’ first coming in the flesh for the salvation of the world, renews us in His presence among us now in Word and Sacrament, and readies us for Christ’s return to bring God’s eternal plan to fulfillment. In the meantime, to sustain us in our waiting, the Lord richly supplies us with grace and peace. Grace is the undeserved favor of God that holds us in forgiveness; peace is the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being that keeps us in harmony with Jesus and with each other. Throughout this Advent may you draw deeply on God’s faithfulness to grow in partnership with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our first Midweek Advent service is this Wednesday, December 2, at 11:30 am. Reminder—no fellowship meal this time around. With the theme of “Prepare Ye” we will Ponder the meaning of our Savior’s birth, with Mary serving as an example for us. If you cannot attend in person, the service will also be livestreamed and available for later viewing.

Advent Daily Devotional books have been made available by our LWML for your use. Provided by Lutheran Hour ministries, these daily devotions can keep your focus on God’s work all the way to Epiphany!

Last chance to place your order for holiday flowers—deadline is this Wednesday. Poinsettias are $9.00 and Roses are $3.50 per bud. Order forms are available at the church.

Movie on the Trail is scheduled for this Friday, December 4, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The feature presentation will be, “The Grinch”. Fun for the family and the whole community!

Hope Voters Assembly is set for next Sunday, December 6, at 11:45 am. We will elect officers for 2021 and also vote on our annual Mission Grant recipients. Plan to gather in the Friendship Hall and take part in the ongoing ministry of the church.
